Event Overview

China continues to attract international talent seeking to start or grow their careers in a fast-paced, dynamic market. Shanghai in particular tends to be cosmopolitan and foreigner-friendly with a high quality of life and steady job creation. 

Yet finding employment, especially for those with limited or no working experience, is challenging due both to regulatory requirements as well as the degree of competitiveness in the marketplace.

In this event, five international professionals share their experiences on how they broke into the market, potential areas of opportunities, and possible strategies to adopt. The presentations are followed by a panel Q&A.

Martin Daffner, Director of Innovation at HULT (Event Host and Moderator)

Martin Daffner is President & Founder of Innobrix, an innovation focused start-up to support the increasing demand for innovation capability development in China and Asia Pacific. He was previously Senior Innovation Architect for Cisco Systems, Director of Innovation and R&D for TE Connectivity, Director of Innovation for Avery Dennison, and Section Head at Proctor & Gamble. Martin has an MBA from the University of Southern California, a Masters in Science & Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a BS from Miami University. 


Alessandro Duina, Co-Founder & CEO of Prodygia (Event Co-Host)

Alessandro Duina co-founded Prodygia. He previously co-founded the JLJ Group, a consulting company helping international SMEs enter and grow in the Chinese market. Earlier in his career, he was a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a Project Leader at Barilla and held various roles at startups in the U.S. and Europe. 

Prodygia helps organizations unlock their content by offering on-demand solutions. 


Emma Caillere, Senior Consultant & Vice General Manager, Talent Fishers

Emma Caillere has over 20 years experience in recruitment and HR anagement consulting, including 12 years in China. Before joining Talent Fishers, Emma was China Operation Manager at CONSEA Executive Search and Senior HR Consultant at Dragonfly Group. She holds two Masters degrees from the University of Law, Bordeaux. 

The Talent Fishers Group is a recruitment specialist for international companies with staffing needs in Asia and the specifically the Greater China region. 


Ellen Aichelmann, Senior Sales Manager, International Events & Groups, Grand Kempinski

Ellen Aichelmann is responsible for international business development and local diplomatic market for the Grand Kempinski Hotel Shangai. She has a Bachelors from Cesar Ritz Colleges, Switzerland. 

Kempinski Hotels S.A. is an international hotel chain founded as the Hotelbetriebs-Aktiengesellschaft in Berlin, Germany, in 1897, which makes it Europe's oldest luxury hotel group.


Nicolai Grevstad, Regional BD Manager & Strategic Alliance, First Advantage China; HULT Alumni

Nicolai Grevstad is part of the Business Bevelopment & Strategic Alliance Team at First Advantage and responsible for identifying and generating new business opportunities in East China. He was previously Client Development Manager at AMB Sports Management. Nicolai is a graduate of HULT Business School and has a BS from Southern Utah University. 

First Advantage is the largest provider of employment background screening services in the Asia Pacific region and a leading business information provider internationally.
