In 2005, Frank Gallo was teaching a class about motivating employees to a group of managers from state-owned companies and multinationals in China. 

His curriculum included Western management techniques that he had picked up in the United States. 

One day he was surprised when students said if they applied his techniques at their companies, then they might take it the wrong way.
